Appears in the crazy cartoon AniMat: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022)
Narrative
Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that sends them lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “The Skeleton Team” and even more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neal’s younger siblings is the same one that the Chewbacca family watches in the infamous Star Wars (1978).
I’m hungry for some good, mature, epic Star Wars content
Like most ’80s kids, I have fond memories of Goofballs, but I’d be lying if I said this was the direction I was desperate to see new Star Wars content go. I mean, after the disappointment of the sequel trilogy and so many others – all of Disney’s live-action content aside from Andorra, Rogue One, and the first two seasons of Mando – I’d rate it somewhere between mediocre and poor. Give me an “Andorra”-style show set in the Old Republic with Jedi, Sith, and Nick Gillard as a stunt coordinator in the world of sword fighting.
to be honest, Skeleton Team is pretty good
BUT… It’s not offensive or poorly made; not obviously cheap like “The Book of Boba Fett”; not disembodied like the third season of “Mandon”; not pedantic like the sequels and “Kenobi”; not tone-deaf like Acolyte. Cheers?
So far so good
It’s basically Star Wars Goonies, a neat little story about a group of kids adventuring in the Star Wars universe. The writing so far (starting with Episode 2) is decent: the effects, costumes, and locations look great: there’s a certain charm to it all. I’m assuming this, like Andor, is a passion project for its creators, and the bosses saw it as a little side project so they didn’t bother to interfere, which is a blessing for Lucasfilm these days.
