Major issues identified by ECF in the North east Nigeria is the issue of poor livelihoods. Livelihood in the Northeast is very poor, sometimes absent and unsustainable. ECF strives to leverage on community potentials to improve their livelihoods in a more sustainable manner. One of the major channel we do this, is through agricultural activities, especially by promoting sustainable practices for all seasons of farming.
Education is the bedrock of development. Communities and individuals require education to be useful to themselves and the society. Education at every level is linked to livelihood status. Education is key in determining the level of social capital of any community.
ECF promotes access to quality education either through infrastructural and material supports, teaching aids and enhancing the quality of teachers. We believe education is a right especially to the children and should be free at primary levels.
Before the boko haram insurgency, Northeast has been declared as one of the most educational disadvantaged region in the country. The insurgency activities has further jeopardise the growing education system in the region, so therefore, education needs to be dealt with timely and effectively.
Climate change is perhaps the most serious environmental threat to the fight against hunger, malnutrition diseases and poverty in African.
Climate change that was once a far distance issue has shown itself in the Northeast which is threatening the food security of the population.
ECF strives to strengthen climate change resilience and promote local adaptation and mitigation strategies.
Primary and secondary school pupils/students are been educated on climate change to protect and preserve the environment.
Societies where peace is fragile or totally absent, hardly experience any form of positive development.
ECF over the years, through multiple inclusive strategies has been promoting peaceful coexistence in communities to enhance development. We also mainstream right based approach to community development by enhancing the community members’ capacity to drive the process.
