Education Support in Michika LGA

The insurgency destroyed school buildings, reading and writing materials, and reduced the number of pupils in school.

Schools were a primary target during the crisis, and the impact on education was huge. In 2016, 5,000 in-school pupils in 13 selected primary schools in Michika LGA were supported with textbooks, school bags, school sandals, notebooks, chalk, maps and other writing and teaching materials.

School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) were strengthened with community monitoring structures. The capacity of 130 teachers was enhanced. The project, funded by the Victims Support Fund, Abuja, improved school enrolment and retention.
