Livestock Support for Widows and Orphans

Mubi has the second largest livestock market in Nigeria, and many households lost their animals during the insurgency.

Mubi North is one of the seven LGAs affected by the insurgency and has many widows and orphans. With funding from VSF, ECF supported 300 households of widows, orphans and other vulnerable victims with livestock: four goats per household, three female and one male.

Each household also received a stipend for feeding and medical support for the animals. The support has helped many households return to the livestock business and has increased their enterprise and livelihoods.

What we are doing

  • Restock households that lost livestock
  • Give three female and one male goat for breeding
  • Provide stipends for feeding and medical care
  • Strengthen small-scale enterprise
