Dry Season Empowerment Programme

Vulnerable households were selected on clear criteria and access to land, then supported to farm through the dry season.

With the Victims Support Fund (VSF), ECF strengthened the agro-enterprise of 3,000 households affected by the insurgency. Households were identified and selected using set criteria and access to land, then supported with inputs and extension services.

Support included power tillers (mini tractors), improved seeds of onion, pepper and cabbage, liquid fertilisers, pre- and post-emergence herbicides, sprayers, water pumps and accessories, and technical support from other partners, so that each household could cultivate not less than half a hectare of vegetables in five LGAs of Adamawa State.

The aim is to improve agro-based enterprise, nutrition and livelihoods, and ultimately to reduce the number of people who need daily food support.

What we are doing

  • Restore livelihoods of households affected by the insurgency
  • Provide power tillers, seeds, fertiliser, pumps and sprayers
  • Give technical and extension support through partners
  • Improve nutrition and reduce dependence on daily food support
